A note from the two of us

We almost did it quietly.

For most of this year, we were set on simple — sign the papers, skip the fuss, call it done.

Then it hit us: the part we actually wanted wasn't to skip the wedding. It was the people. All of you, in one place, for longer than an afternoon.

So the courthouse became a backyard, the backyard became a pool day, and a quiet plan became a whole weekend with our favorite forty people. Somewhere in the middle, we're getting married.

A birthday surprise

Her birthday · the Columbus Museum of Art

Cody planned a birthday afternoon at the museum — our favorite kind of date, just the two of us among the art. Katrina had been asking for new photos of us for ages. The ring was picked out, but delayed — so she was sure today wasn't the day.

The marble courtyard

A glass ceiling & red velvet curtains

Inside, the staff quietly slipped our coats from her bag and led us into an empty marble courtyard beneath a glass ceiling. There, in front of the red velvet curtains, Cody got down on one knee. A whirlwind — and a whole lot of happy tears.

Then, the galleries

Newly engaged

We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering the galleries, finally taking the photos she'd been wanting all along — ending, fittingly, in front of a mountain.

Garden Formal

For Friday's wedding — soft color, fluid silhouettes, linen and silk, dressed for a garden at golden hour.

A shared palette
Watercolor palette on torn paper: petal pink, french blue, butter yellow, dusty periwinkle, soft sage and antique rose

You don't have to match — just pull from the same soft, sun-washed shades, and skip neon, harsh black, and denim.

And for Saturday's pool day — keep it easy: swimsuits, coverups, sundresses and linen. Nothing fussy.
